Theme party supplies by MASHAN

Mermaid, baby shower, birthday, Mexican and Italian table settings — the prints we run for parties with a theme rather than a date.

Theme Party Decorations from MASHAN

A theme party lives or dies on the table. Guests walk in, look at where the food is, and decide in one glance whether the evening has been thought about. We print themed covers and decorations to carry that first glance, and to do it without a trip to four different shops.

The themes we keep in stock are the ones people host most: a mermaid table for children's birthdays, a baby shower set in soft colors, a bright Mexican print for a taco night, and a few regional prints that get used for school culture days.

Building a theme without over-buying

Pick one strong surface, keep the rest plain

The common mistake with a theme party is buying everything patterned. A patterned cover under patterned plates under a patterned napkin reads as noise in photos. Pick the cover as the loud piece, then run plain plates and plain cups against it. The theme comes through and the food still looks like food.

Children's themes need a wipeable surface

Mermaid and birthday tables are mostly used by guests under ten. Those tables get knocked. A plastic cover takes a juice spill and a dropped slice of cake without the party pausing, and it comes off the table in one piece at the end of the evening.

A baby shower wants soft color, not volume

Baby shower tables photograph best in a narrow color range. We keep the shower prints pale on purpose so the dessert table, which is usually the backdrop for every photo taken that afternoon, does not fight with what is on it.

Questions we get asked

Which theme works best for a child's birthday?

The mermaid and the bright birthday prints are the two we see used most for children. Both are wipeable plastic, which matters more at that age than the print does.

Can I mix two themes on one table?

It works if one theme is the cover and the other is a small accent such as a runner or a sticker sheet. Two patterned surfaces of the same size will read as a mistake.

How do I build a theme party from this shelf?

Pick the cover first and let it set the color, then take napkins and plates from the same print so the theme runs across the whole party instead of sitting on one corner of the table. Most of our theme party supplies ship in multiples, so a single order usually dresses two tables rather than one — handy if you would otherwise be eyeing a second cake table halfway through the week.
